How it works

Adhesive: we divide your area by the coverage per bag and round up. Coverage depends on trowel size and how flat the surface is, so it is an editable input. A deeper notched trowel or an uneven wall uses more.

Grout: the standard trade formula estimates grout in kg per m² as ((tile length + tile width) ÷ (tile length × tile width)) × joint width × tile thickness × 1.8, where the lengths are in mm and the result accounts for grout density of roughly 1.8 kg per litre. We multiply by your area and round bags up.

Assumptions: these are guide quantities, not exact. Add a little spare for mixing losses and topping up joints. Always confirm against the figures printed on the products you buy.
